About

Gadgeteer Kids offers fun STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math) classes and camps blending hands-on science with demonstrations and explorations. In each class, students are guided to use easy-to-find materials to build a gadget that flies, flaps, balances, buzzes, or spins and always wows. With simple materials and a little ingenuity, they might experiment with paper mechanics, learn how airplanes fly, bewilder the brain with color and sound, and so much more.

Who are we?

Evan Brown

Owner, Gadget Designer, Lead Gadgeteer

Evan learned his craft working with underserved and autistic children, teaching science with LEGO, and managing youth staff. He’s worked at Psychology, Learning, and You (P.L.A.Y.); Techsplosion; Mystery Science, Scholastic, and the San Francisco Exploratorium, where he’s been working for the past 25+ years. He’s the founder and activity designer of Gadgeteer Kids, which offers fun, make-and-take STEAM activities for youth in Marin and San Francisco. A natural engineer and inventor, Evan is driven to fix anything that’s broken and figure out new ways to explore. When nobody’s looking, he mostly likes to play with toys—including the zillions of LEGO bricks and Transformers that line the walls of his garage workshop.
